AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and West Central Arkansas. ONSET...Afternoon. DISCUSSION... Scattered showers with an isolated rumble of thunder will be possible this morning mainly along and north of Highway 412 in northeast Oklahoma. Any impacts should be minimal and severe weather is not expected. Additional showers and isolated storms will be possible this afternoon in the same vicinity. Some gusty winds could occur with any thunderstorms this afternoon. Hot conditions will persist today across the region as temperatures climb into the triple digits for some locations. Heat index values ranging from 103 to 108 degrees will be possible across much of eastern Oklahoma and into portions of west central Arkansas. Continues to take heat related precautions while spending time outdoors. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Spotter Activation Not Expected.
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...Dangerous Heat Potential. SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY...Dangerous Heat Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... The main weather story over the next week will be continuous hot conditions, with heat products likely for at least part of the forecast area at times. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected to occur off and on through Saturday morning, especially near and north of Interstate 40. The highest precipitation chances will come late Thursday into Friday.
